Understanding the radiology referral process allows you to be an informed patient and price conscious consumer. Knowing your options gives you the power of choice in addition to saving time and your healthcare dollars.
At your examination, your doctor orders a radiology test (MRI, or CT) to help diagnose and treat your medical problem.
Your doctor may advise where you have the test, but the decision is yours. You can take your radiology order to any facility that offers the test. Hospital-owned facilities typically charge more than independent outpatient facilities. Ask your doctor for facility choices.
Your doctor's office might schedule the test for you, but once you have the signed order you can schedule or re-schedule the test at the facility you choose. Not all imaging facilities are the same; cost can vary greatly, even for patients with insurance. Ask questions; be informed.
After the test is completed, a radiologist will electronically send your referring doctor the radiology images and a written report with the results of your test.
Your doctor will discuss the results of your test at your follow-up appointment.
No matter your communication preference, we provide three easy ways to schedule your appointment:
Use the online request form and we'll contact you as soon as possible!
Stop in at any of our statewide center locations to schedule with our front desk.
Additionally, your healthcare provider’s office staff can assist you with scheduling your appointment as all diagnostic imaging procedures must be referred by your physician and require a signed referral.
It is extremely important for you to keep your scheduled appointment. If an emergency prevents you from keeping it, please call our office prior to your scheduled appointment time, to cancel or reschedule. This simple step will prevent unnecessary delays for all of our patients.
The form completed and signed by your ordering healthcare provider.
You will need to bring a form of identification and current insurance card(s).
Any previous, relevant imaging exams and reports performed outside of our network.
Uninsured Patients: Payment is required at time of services rendered.
Insured Patients: At time of service, you will be required to pay any deductible, co-pay or coinsurance dictated by your insurance plan.
If your healthcare provider orders an MRI, CT Scan, or Ultrasound, you have a choice where your test is performed. Choosing Mobile Open MRI can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
We will be happy to deliver a no-commitment price estimate (no appointment necessary) based on your current insurance plan. Even if you don’t have insurance, our staff can quickly provide you with self-pay pricing options.
Requests received before 4 pm, Monday through Friday, will receive a same-day response. Requests received after 4 pm, on weekends or holidays will receive a response the next business day.
